We’re three weeks out from our due date, and have put almost all the finishing touches on our baby’s nursery. Having her room ready feels so surreal – we’ll be spending so much time in here, all together, so soon!
While there are still a couple decor items we want to get (a floor lamp behind the chair, some art over the dresser), we are so happy with how this room has turned out. It’s relaxing and bright and cozy – everything we hoped it would be!
Here are the details of our baby’s room, and this calming nursery design.
the wall treatment
Alex poured so much love and time into this room and installed a beautiful, modern wainscotting to the walls. This wall treatment adds so much coziness to this space. We love that it will grow with her as she eventually transitions from nursery to big-girl-room.
We knew we wanted this room to flow with the rest of our house, and opted for white and grey furniture. We were lucky that Alex’s parents are doing some home renovations of their own, and had a dresser and chair in these colours to pass on to us!
The crib is the Modern Pacific 4-in-1 Convertible Crib in pebble grey from Indigo.
Again, we wanted this room to flow with the rest of our home. We opted for black hardware, and white, cream, and wood accents to keep things consistent. The Crosby rug from Ruggable adds a bit of playfulness to the space, as do these wooden bear hooks from Bouclair. We had a privacy shade installed, and white and black textured black out curtains to the windows (which we also got for our own bedroom because we loved them so much!) I especially love this open rattan ceiling light.
Organization in this room was important to me (though we’ll see how long we can keep it up, haha!) In the closet, installed a Boaxel wardrobe from Ikea and added clear bins, grey velvet hangers, and a cute pompom hamper. In the dresser, we added some grey fabric bins and dresser dividers to keep all her little clothing items organized.
We’re so excited for our girl to be here with us so soon, and can’t wait to watch her grow up in this sweet room, in our first home.
